How did you get started in the Hair industry?
Once I graduated high school I went into my first year of college to potentially pursue Nursing. I knew Nursing wasn’t where my heart was, but I come from a college background family so felt I needed to give it a try. Shortly after, I knew that’s not where I was going to feel fulfilled and sat my parents down and told them what I wanted to pursue and from that point it was a family effort to get me into cosmetology school. We only had a couple to choose from in my area so I drove an hour to and from everyday. It was the best decision made and my love for this industry has grown tremendously!
What are your 3 must-have hair products?
- Moroccan oil
- Unite 7 Seconds
- Milbon blow dry polish
If you could have dinner with one person living or deceased, whom would it be?
I would have dinner with my mema! My dads mom! I was so young when she passed so I don’t have very many vivid memories of her but the way I hear my dad talk about her I just know she was a true gem.
What’s your current favorite hair trend?
Lived in balayage will always be my go to!
If you could style one celebrity’s hair, who would it be?
Dolly Parton! Gosh the stories I’m sure she could tell!
Describe a typical day-in-your life?
I’m a mom of 2 so my house is always pretty busy! I get them ready for drop off and always go to the gym after for at least an hour (I’m obsessed with sitting in the sauna everyday) then I head to work to get ready for the day. My work day consists of 4-8 clients depending on the day!
What’s the one habit everyone can do to get better/healthier hair?
To let product sit in your hair for at least 20 min before drying! I know typically we can’t do this in the salon but I swear by that advice for home purpose!!
Do you have an inspiring female role models or mentors?
I’ve always admired Kaitlyn Brown's work and her aesthetic! I have attended two of her classes and they have both been amazing. From her technique to her social media aesthetic, I’ve taken away more inspo from her and used more of her techniques behind the chair!
Do you have any tips for artists starting out in the industry?
It’s HARD as shit but with determination, patience and your mind set, it’s one of the most rewarding careers to make people feel beautiful in their own skin. Now in this time the field is super saturated so it takes hard work and putting in the time to gain a clientele!
What do you do to feel more inspired?
Attend as many education classes as I can! I always come back refreshed!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
To go for it. Never let anyone or anything keep you from pursuing your dreams. Time passes to quick!
What’s been your proudest moment in the industry?
Opening my salon and making it in the Top 25 category for extensions for Behind The Chair One Shot awards!
What would be your career path in another life?
Something in the fashion industry hands down!
What is your favorite Bombshell Extensions Co product?
The extensions, are you kidding! Best on the market!
