-How did you get started in the Hair industry?

I always knew I wanted to do hair. There was never another career that sounded as fulfilling as being a stylist. Growing up, my American Girl doll got frequent hair cuts, which resulted in my mom caving in to buy me mannequin heads!

-What are your 3 must-have hair products?

Kenra Dry Volume Burst

Unite 7 Second Miracle Leave-In

IGK First Class Dry Shampoo

-If you could have dinner with one person living or deceased, who

would it be?

My grandma Jane. I never got to meet her, she passed before my siblings and I were born. I’d give a lot to be able to sit down and chat with her over a glass of wine.

-What’s your current favorite hair trend?

Lived-in hair looks win every time for me! Babylights with a good shadow have my heart, Throw in some tousled beach waves with it and I’m sold!

-If you could style one celebrity’s hair, who would it be?

Duh… Jennifer Anniston. Who wouldn’t want to get there hands on Rachel Green’s hair!

-Describe a typical day-in-your life?

My typical day starts with FaceTiming my nieces on their way to school while I’m getting ready in the morning, then head to the salon for the day, then I hobble my way to the car in whatever poor (but cute) choice of shoes I’ve worn that day, get home to my Weimaraner pup, binge watch something Netflix, and do it all again the next day!

-What’s the one habit everyone can do to get better/healthier hair?

Turn the heat down on styling tools, no everyday washing (Dry Shampoo), and treat your hair with a good conditioning mask every once in a while!

-Do you have an inspiring female role models or mentors?

My boss, Melanie Whitbeck, is definitely a role model to me in this industry. And not because she is my boss, but because of her character and willingness to learn behind the chair. We’ve been through a lot of stuff over the past few years, and she has remained a constant mentor, friend, and inspiration. Plus, she builds a kick ass salon!

-Do you have any tips for artists starting out in the industry?

Some tips for anyone entering the industry would be letting yourself remain open to constructive criticism at any stage in the game. The wonderful thing about the industry itself is that you can always learn something no matter how many years in you are. Be open to suggestions, and don’t ever think you’re above your peers. If you aren’t busy, help that other stylist blow dry. We are never too good to help.

-What do you do to feel more inspired?

Instagram is always a big inspiration to me. It amazes me how I can connect with a stylist in Australia and ask them how they did something. Instagram is a free tool and I suggest every stylist use it!

-What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve received would probably be to never be afraid to fail or mess up. The only thing you can do when something like that happens is to recognize it and learn from it then move on!

-What’s been your proudest moment in the industry?

I don’t think I’ve had a “proudest moment” yet. I’ve had a lot of exciting and rewarding times like getting regramed on a hair page of some sort, but I don’t think I have had the honor of a proudest moment yet!

-What would be your career path in another life?

I’ve always imagined being a flight attendant would be so fun! I think In another life I’d do that.

-What is your favorite Bombshell Extension Co product?

The Beaded Wefts and Tape-Ins. I love the results they give.
